Determine requirement for an Environmental Statement (ES). An ES is mandatory for installation of a pipeline that is greater than 40 km in length and 800 mm in diameter. Many smaller pipelines may form part of a wider development where an ES will be required (see New Projects). In this case the pipelines will be included in the wider development ES/Production Operations Application (PRA) submission and so a Pipeline Operations Application (PLA) need not be submitted to determine requirement for an ES. | |||
Undertake Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and prepare ES. | |||||
Undertake informal consultation with statutory consultees, DESNZ, JNCC and MS/CEFAS. | |||||
Undertake early consultation with fishing interests. | |||||
Identify if development occurs in vicinity of any habitats or protected species under EU Habitats Directive. Additional measures and a Habitats Regulatory Assessment may be required. | |||||
Prepare environmental information (and possibly chemical permit application) section of PLA. | |||||
